What is online today may be gone tomorrow
Posts get deleted, accounts are closed and stories expire after 24 hours. A screenshot shows what someone saw, but it does not prove who posted it, when, or that it was not edited afterwards.
That is why the first step is to preserve properly, and as early as possible.
What I do
- Preservation of profiles, posts, videos, comments and stories by downloading the original content, not just a screenshot, with a SHA-256 hash and an RFC 3161 timestamp.
- Metadata: publication date, account and content identifiers, permanent link and status at the time of capture.
- Account attribution: technical and content indications that link a profile to a person.
- Comparison: I compare what was posted with photos, documents or places to establish whether they match.
- Direct messages, from the account holder's own account and with their consent.

Attribution: how far an expert can go
Platforms do not hand over an account's registration data without a court order. What I provide are verifiable indications (name, photos, contacts, consistency with other accounts or known facts) and how strong each one is.
I always separate what I can prove technically from what is for the judge to assess. That rigour is what lets a report withstand scrutiny by the opposing expert.

Is a notarial certificate not enough?
Not always. A Spanish notary attests to what appears on screen, but does not analyse metadata, original files or account attribution. The two can complement each other.
What if it has already been deleted?
Sometimes it remains on the device of whoever saw it, in backups or caches, and the platform may keep it for a court request. The sooner you act, the more options there are.
Can Instagram stories or live streams be preserved?
Yes, while they are visible. Stories last 24 hours, so it is best to get in touch as soon as you see them.
Do you need access to my account?
For public content, no. For private messages, yes: the work is done from the account holder's own account and with their consent.
